Exhaust manifold

Shown on Engine OM648:

  • 1.Nuts
  • 2.Exhaust manifold
  • 3.Cylinder head

DIY

  1. Remove turbocharger.
  2. Unscrew nuts (1) for exhaust manifold (2).
  3. Take off exhaust manifold (2).
  4. Remove gasket.
  5. Check stud bolts (Install new stud bolts if damaged, tighten loose stud bolts).
  6. Clean sealing surfaces at exhaust manifold (2) and cylinder head (3) (To prevent damage and leakage, do not use any sharp-edged or pointed objects to clean the sealing surfaces on the cylinder head).
  7. Install in the reverse order.
  8. Test run engine and check exhaust system for leaks.

Torque Specifications

  • Nut to exhaust manifold to cylinder head 30 Nm (Engine: 646.951/961/962/963/966, engines 647 648)
  • Stud bolts, exhaust manifold to cylinder head 20 Nm (Engine: 646.951/961/962/963/966, 647.961, 648)
